 As an Ecologist / Botanist you will be joining the North Queensland team in a  Principal position. Ideally you will be based in Townsville, however other North Queensland locations will also be considered. Reporting to the Environmental team manager you will take the lead technical role for all ecological projects, providing high level technical advice, mentoring junior staff mentors on site, and report writing for impact assessments and other environmental reports.

 Whilst consulting experience is preferred, strong project management skills, legislative knowledge, and ecological assessment experience are essential. This role offers you the chance to grow, lead, and mentor a team of ecologists in a supportive environment, whilst working across varied and interesting projects.

To be successful you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science ( Botany / Terrestrial Ecology)
  • High technical capability and skill set with significant experience in terrestrial surveys (flora and fauna), impact assessments, and report writing
  • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation  
  • Successful track record in project managing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Leadership skills and a strong desire to mentor others and grow your team
  • Experience within a consultancy environment is viewed favourably
